Who we are

What this website collects

Nothing that identifies you. This site sets no cookies of our own, has no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of you across sites or over time. We wrote no JavaScript for it.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, does insert two small scripts of its own, served from this same domain. One rewrites email addresses on the page to hide them from address-harvesting robots. The other checks whether a visitor is an automated program rather than a person, in order to keep automated abuse off the site; to do that it examines properties of your browser and may set a short-lived cookie. Neither script is ours, neither identifies you to us, and we receive no report from either.

Our hosting provider processes ordinary server request data — IP address, browser user agent, the URL requested, and the time — in order to deliver the page to you and to protect the service against abuse. That is a technical necessity of serving a website, we do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not link it to any other information.

What happens when you email us

If you write to hello@gesiyuan.com we receive your email address, your message, and anything you choose to put in it. We use that only to answer you and to keep a record of the correspondence. Mail sent to this address is delivered through Cloudflare's email routing service to our mailbox.

Legal bases

• Legitimate interests — keeping this website available and secure, and answering messages you send us.
• Legal obligation — records we are required by law to keep.
• Consent — anything optional, which we would ask for separately and which you could withdraw at any time.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. Our hosting and email routing provider is Cloudflare, Inc., which processes data only on our instructions in order to serve this site and deliver our mail.

Retention

Server request logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider and then discarded. Email correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for answering you and dealing with any follow-up, and is then deleted.

International transfers

Cloudflare operates a global network, so data may be processed outside the United Kingdom. Where it is, the transfer relies on UK adequacy regulations or on standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email hello@gesiyuan.com. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect the personal data of children.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
